 Japan and Japanisme

“Wood is universally beautiful…and yet, among the higher civilizations, the Japanese understood it best…The simple Japanese dwelling with its fences and utensils is the revelation of wood.” Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) architect

Japanese design was inspired by China. One of the differences between Japanese and Chinese design styles is that Japan leans more toward impromptu and off-centered, whereas China focuses on formality and axiality in China; they also focus on perfection and old practices that they have done for ages. Japan is open to trying different styles and variations, and they don't focus on perfection.
