Modernism in America Pt.2   People built their homes in the 1950s to 1960s with flat roofs and asymmetrical profiles. It was the first time people started using bi-level structures, and people started getting married in indoor spaces, moving outdoors. During that period, the color scheme was mostly earthy dark tones, with the most trendy colors at times being pink, turquoise, and yellow. Modernism in America Modernism started in Germany and France and later spread to other regions. The movement began after World War 2, and many of its founders were people who fled from European countries to Britain or America because of the world wars that occurred during their time. Modernism in America was divided into two because of the pre-war war. Pre-war modernism was more theoretical and idealistic than post-war modernism, which was practical and applied, showcasing the war's impact on interior design.   Rise of the Decorators It started in 1925 at the World's Fair in Paris, and the two main contributors fell into two categories: Functionalists and Decorators.  The decorators, also called Ensemblier, are the ones who create an ensemble, with in mind seeing if they work well together for the aesthetic that they are looking for. The functionalists focus more on function, form, and theory and don't consider adding more accessories or furniture to their interiors. Interior decorators started to come out in the early 1900s.   The Emergence of Modernism The Emergence of Modernism started in the 1900's things that contribute to the Modernism movement was the Art Nouveau and the praire style because of that came about the advances of Building skyscrapers modernism was a rejection of historical design more about embracing Industrial design's.
