  Protomodernism Protomodernism started in 1897 and ended in 1959.   Art Nouveau two Part two of Art Nouveau in the US was mainly influenced by Tiffany and Sullivan. Art Nouveau in the US Tiffany art revolves around glasswork. During that period, he worked with churches and residential buildings with floral landscapes and semi-abstract forms. Still, Tiffany's business was later sold to Samuel Bing, the owner of an Art Nouveau shop in Paris with Sullivan. His work was more about architecture; he was involved in the rebuilding of Chicago, and his style of architecture reflected contemporary American and the use of Art Nouveau. That earned him the name of Father of Sky Scrapers. His methods used highly decorated architectural details inspired by nature.   Art Nouveau Art Nouveau started in 1890 and ended in the year 1910  Art nouveau refers to new art during this period. Europe was experiencing peace and prosperity, and William Morris influenced this period. The academic model was rejected during this era, and nature was used instead. Most of the arts during that period focused on flowers, birds, vines, and insects. Many of the artists of the time shared admiration for the Japanese arts, which were inspired by many artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, who painted the famous painting Starry Night. I like all of Van Gogh's paintings, but Starry Night is my favorite.  Japan and Japanisme “Wood is universally beautiful…and yet, among the higher civilizations, the Japanese understood it best…The simple Japanese dwelling with its fences and utensils is the revelation of wood.” Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) architect Japanese design was inspired by China. One of the differences between Japanese and Chinese design styles is that Japan leans more toward impromptu and off-centered, whereas China focuses on formality and axiality in China; they also focus on perfection and old practices that they have done for ages. Japan is open to trying different styles and variations, and they don't focus on perfection.
